balinese ceremonial food

One of the most enjoyable moments that my guests tell me about after leaving my beach retreat Bulung Daya is the Balinese Ceremony Dinner. It combines the best that the villa can offer:

Ceremonial Food

Delicious ceremonial food cooked from scratch by my private chef Wayan (You can watch him, and even assist him for a more complete cultural immersion). It consists of a series of scrumptious dishes, usually presented in a very nice way to honor the gods. The chef uses exotic herbs and spices used in ceremonial Balinese dishes to prepare this lavish Balinese feast. As usual at the villa, ask the chef to go easy on spices if you do not like spicy food. Balinese desserts and sweet things complete the feast.

Live Gamelan

Live Gamelan Music performed just for you by 2 or 3 members of a higher caste family whose father is a music professor at the University of Tabanan. It is nice to watch and hear gamelan, Indonesia’s most famous indigenous music instrument. During the meal, the music will be softly played, so that you peacefully talk with your friends and family.

Wonderful Setting

– Setting: Weather permitting, outside, either by the pool or under the veranda (great at sunset). If it’s raining, the meal will take place in the dinner room.

– Tableware: Handmade ceramics from a Balinese artisan located near the palace of the Kerambitan royal family.
