Fire Ritual

As the Hindu Day of Silence commences on March 31, a series of rituals are set to be undertaken in Bali. These rituals are for the purposes of cleansing, strengthening human relations with each other, humans with the environment and between humans and God. Also, there are rituals like the four abstinences known as Catur Brata Penyepian, comprising amati geni (abstaining from lighting fire or lights); amati karya (abstaining from work); amati lelungan (abstaining from traveling outside one’s home) and amati lelanguan (abstaining from enjoying leisure activities). The highest Hindu council has issued guidance related to the celebration of the Caka New Year 1936.

Bali Tourism Promotion Board (BPPD) and the Indonesian Sports Committee (KONI) have extensive plans to promote Bali as a major sports destination. A Bali Sports Week was done, although it drew a lot of criticism so the organizers are hoping to change some of the mechanics to avoid further issues. This project by Unicef is a project that will help conserve water. The idea is, when we hold our phone, we might have a tendency to wash our hands. So, the project is that for every 10 minutes that we don’t hold our phone, Giorgio Armani Fragrances and other generous donors can fund one day of clean water for a child in need.
